Being Thankful

When you lose someone for whom you care very much, it's never easy.  Instead of focusing on the what might have beens and the if only we had dones....I prefer to look back on years of memories with a thankful heart.

I'm thankful for loving parents, who supported me all along the way.  I'm thankful for crossword puzzles and word jumbles and singing to Phantom of the Opera or Oklahoma! or South Pacific or Paint Your Wagon or any number of other musicals on the drive to and from school.  I'm thankful for so many memories!

You might wonder why I titled this website Remembering My Daddy.  It dates back to a time when I was six or seven years old, and my Sunday School teacher encouraged me to recite a poem for Father's Day.

MD Means My Daddy
Whenever Daddy signs his name he always writes M.D.
So that people will all know that he belongs to me
For M.D. means "My Daddy" or something just the same
And that is why he always puts these letters in his name.
Some letters in his name are small but these are not, you see,
He always makes them big like that because he's so proud of me.
